In Alomogordo, NM, on the side of a mountain, is the Museum of Space History. We had to hurry through the four floors of space artifacts, because it was going to close in an hour. They had a lot about rockets, and outside there were more shuttles and rockets to see. Holliman AFB is nearby and they've been involved in many of the space projects. There are also many other top secret projects going on in the area.
