VISITORS

On Tuesday, we were waiting for the awning installer, and we had visitors arrive at the same time he came. Al and Shirley Ludeking and Karen and Willie Brown brought Cal and Betty Anderson from Decorah to see our park model. Always acting as a lawyer and inquisitive person, Cal had many questions for us. It was nice to see them. They even posed for blog material!

WOODEN VALENCES

On Monday, we had a problem with the wood valences that we ordered. They weren't the right size. Here the guys are mulling over the problem.

With the help of a good woman who shall remain nameless, we figured it all out and when they get the right size with the corners mitered, they'll be back to install them. As you can see, they'll look better.

On Monday, we also got our TV's hooked up. It should have been done on Saturday, but the guy was driving all around South Dakota looking for us. I guess you have to have a few mix-ups.

DESERT BOTANICAL GARDEN

On Sunday, we had to make a trip up north to take cookies to Brad at RV Traders, so we stopped at the plant sale at the Desert Botanical Garden. We didn't buy anything, but we did educate ourselves a little bit about southwest gardening. You've seen us come across Chihuly glass artwork all over the country, and we found a couple pieces at the garden.

I also had to take a few pictures, even though we didn't actually go in the gardens this time. Here's a Yucca in bloom.

A closer look.
The flowering trees were really pretty.

FURNITURE FINALLY

After a week sitting on a lawnchair, we finally got our furniture.

This kind of freaked me out-the room was full!

Thank God, it fit!

Even the table worked out okay.

We still have to find a couple small tables, but no hurry getting them. Since then our TV's have been hooked up, even though they were looking for us in South Dakota!

ROCK PARTY

Even though we were busy moving every day, we were able to squeeze in a little fun. Maybe you remember the pictures of the neighborhood guys spreading gravel on several of the neighbors lots. They decided to thank them by having a picnic for them. It began with all of us playing shuffleboard.

When I was a teenager, we lived in Florida for awhile. I swore I'd never play that "old folks game"-I hate to admit it was fun! It's harder than it looks.

We had the picnic at the La Casa, where it was cooler.

Of course, the food was delicious!

It was a nice break from moving. We're just about done, except for the basement, which has to wait for the shed. The furniture comes tomorrow. Yea! I'm tired of sitting in a lawn chair!

CONCRETE DAY

On Thursday, the concrete crew came, and within a short time, had the forms placed for the extra pad, driveway and ribbon around the park model.

Ready to start pouring.

Progress made.

All done and time to leave!

THE PROCESS CONTINUES

Shortly after it was in place, Brad, our salesman, arrived with doughnuts.

A few neighbors enjoyed the doughnuts.

Even Roxy and Heidi watched.

Within a short time, we had water and electric.

By 11:00, the fantastic crew was finished, we had given tours, and were beginning to transfer our belongings from the RV. It was an amazing display of teamwork!

Quite a day!

THE BIG DAY

On Wednesday, Don got out of his nest quite early, so we could pull the RV across the street, so the space was ready.

About 7:15, the set-up crew arrived.

At 7:30, it came around the corner.

Within minutes, it was in place.

BUSY WEEK AHEAD

The past week Dan, the maintenance man, came and measured our lot for proper placement of the park model.

Whenever men go outside, more men gather.

When we were in Apache Junction, they had moved our home to the area where they do the finishing touches.

We've been taking care of last minute details, like finding a place to store the RV for about two months. The park, including the storage area, is full. Our park model will be delivered on Wednesday. the cement poured on Thursday, and awning installed a few days later. We'll be gradually moving in for a week until the furniture is finally delivered. Then we'll take the RV to storage. As soon as the awning is in place, Willie Brown and Don will build a shed for storage. Then we can empty the RV of most of it's contents. This summer while we're up north, we'll pick up the things we have stored at Kathy and Jerry's farm and Scott's house, -sell some, store some in the shed, and use some. So, it looks like we're going to be busy!
