EL PASO, TEXAS

In El Paso, TX, we toured the Border Patrol Museum - Don was excited to see the smugglers boat that was two truck hoods welded together. It had lots of information about drug busts and the type of equipment used to catch the smugglers and illegals. They don't just patrol our borders, they have checkpoints along the highways and occasionally you see agents with binoculars looking in the middle of nowhere.

Don was excited more than once in El Paso. Next door to the Border Patrol Museum is the Archaeology Museum which had artifacts over 2000 years old which were in excellent condition and amazed him. They had dioramas showing how the Indians lived many years ago. They have beautiful examples of beading and pottery.

In El Paso, we drove along the border fences and bridges along Juarez, Mexico. We didn't cross because it's very dangerous right now. The drug lords are fighting and 600 people have been killed in the prior three months. The soldiers are standing around with their rifles. We figured we didn't belong there.
