HARRY AND DAVID

We then hurried back to Medford so we could tour Harry and David. This is where the pears are grown and they have their corporate offices. This is their slow time of year, so we didn't get to see too many people working, since we were there on Friday. When they finish their work for the week, they go home. They have 1300 fulltime employees and 8-10, 000 part time, aging from 18 to 85. The tour starts and ends at their country market and they bus you to the plant, which consists of many huge buildings.

We were able to watch them make a batch of Moose Crunch. Here you can see the popcorn being dumped into the bowl of caramel mixture.

When it's cooked, it's dumped on to the assembly line ans it makes its way up to be packaged.
In this building, they have one great big room and they can change the areas according to what they need to assemble. Toward Christmas, there will be several thousand employees working in that room.

When we went back to the market, they had free samples of manyof their products. I made a chicken recipe with their mango pepper relish tonight which tasted real good. We took advantage of a coupon and a couple sales. Quite the place!
