JFK'S LIBRARY AND MUSEUM

We made it across Massachusetts and found a campground in the pines, that's open until the 15th. We're about 30 miles from Boston, so we drove in yesterday and went to the Kennedy Library and Museum. It's interesting to see the differences in the various libraries. This was planned by Jackie, so I think you could describe it as simple elegance. It's very plain, with Boston Harbor as the focal point, because of his love of the sea. In the summer, they keep his sailboat outside-it was a present from his Dad when he was 15, and he sailed it the rest of his life.

Some of the exhibits were interesting. Here are the state counts of electoral votes. Notice Walter Cronkite's desk.

The hallway looks like the hallway in the White House.

Does anyone remember his rocker in the oval office?

Part of the building is a large atrium nine stories tall overlooking the water, with a large American flag hanging from the ceiling. It's quite impressive!

I was very surprised to see so little about his assasination-just 5 small screens with CBS news, telling that he had been wounded and died. There's about 2 or 3 pictures from the procession to the cemetery. The tour ends with his legacy and the Profile in Courage award, but nothing about the family afterwards.
