The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is the first cathedral built after the adoption of the Constitution, and Baltimore is proud of the church. Many people have visited over the years such as Pope John Paul II, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, President Andrew Johnson, Ralph Waldo Emerson, the Marquis de Lafayette and the Mulerts. It's recently been restored to its original splendor.

Almost anything that's white, is white marble. Even the steps down to the mausoleum.

There's a chapel and many people buried there.
