MOUNT ANGEL ABBEY

We stopped at St. Marys church but it was locked. The windows looked like they were beautiful, but we didn't get to see them. A lady came by and suggested we go to the Abbey-so we did. It sits at the top of a hill in the trees. Its a huge place that includes a monastery, a seminary and a retreat house.

We were fortunate to be there at noon, so we heard them sing at their prayer service. I love to hear mens voices and there were many young, strong voices in the group. Very nice! You'll notice the seats on each side of the front of the church-that's where the monks and seminarians sit. In the front on the right is an organ-the back of the church is full of the organ pipes.

The building attatched to the church is the monastery where the monks live.

This is one of the gardens along the side of the visitor's center.

You can see some of the nurseries in the valley.

Even the stations of the cross along the hillside were in German.
