MORE FLOWERS

There were many pretty flowers at the museum. Oh my God, I'm getting like Jerome!!! (my brother-in-law who takes lots of pictures of flowers)

When I was a little girl, my aunt Weenie, started teaching me the names of all the flowers, so I've known them my whole life. In Arizona, I'm clueless-they're all different-but pretty.

THE HEARD MUSEUM

Last Monday, we went up to Phoenix, to the Heard Museum, with Pat and Kathy Fitzgerald.

We were lucky to get a great guide who filled us with information about the various Indian tribes in the area.

The exhibits were great. Here are a few.

Kathy's personal favorite-the Katsina dolls.

Our tour guide took this picture.

We then went for a late lunch, but then had to head home, because we had tickets to see the Duttons, a family that performs in Branson. It was a nice day.

ARIZONA PRETTIES

Here are a few desert flowers from our mystery trip.

MYSTERY TRIP DESSERT

On the way back, we took Ludekings to Carefree and Cave Creek. We just had to stop at The Horny Toad for strawberry shortcake and four spoons. It was good!!!

One of the dining rooms.

A little bit of Heaven!

Al and Shirley before they had some.

We hope they enjoyed their day. They've wanted to go to the dwellings, but didn't like driving through all the Phoenix traffic on the way. We were going to go up South Mountain, but the sun was setting-so, that's another trip!

MYSTERY ANIMAL

Can you find the wildlife in this picture?

MYSTERY TRIP CONTINUED

After lunch, we went on to the Montezuma well. I was surprised to see cliff dwellings in the walls-I guess if you fell, you could drown.
A view of the mountains in the background.
At one time, there were also Pueblo buildings here with 15-20 rooms. This is what's left.
These are the remains of a pit house.
The three examples of housing in the 1300's are interesting, but Mulert wouldn't have gotten very far offering me one of these homes. I can't imagine living that way.

LUNCH ON THE MYSTERY TRIP

We asked a ranger where to eat in the area and he sent us to The Ranch House Restaurant near Montezuma Well. Originally, it was on the ranch that belonged to Bell of Bell Telephone. Years ago it was a spot where many of the old movie stars would go to eat and play golf. There were pictures of many of them on the walls. It was kind of neat.

This was where we ate.

We had a view of the golf course and mountains.
