EATING WITH FITZ'S

Since we were happy with Toby Keith's restaurant in Oklahoma City, we thought we'd try the one in Mesa.

This one didn't have a lot of Toby Keith memorabelia like the one in his home town, but the food was great. Don had a Cobb salad that was huge.

Another good day with good friends, an interesting ballgame and good vittles!

CAMELBACK RANCH GAME

We went to see the White Sox play the Indians at Camelback Ranch stadium, with Pat and Kathy Fitzgerald. It's a very nice stadium.

The Cubs pack them in, but their were only around 4000 at this game.

The game ended in a tie in the tenth inning.

NORTH ON HIGHWAY 10

This year everyone has been upset about the garbage along the highway. We understand the state lacks the money to keep it cleaned up. They've already closed the rest stops and some of the state parks. We were happy to see progress being made the other day, with prisoners working along the road, picking up the junk.

Now, this is something we see all the time-they have an office in our neighborhood.

Every day the desert blooms a little more.

A BIT OF SPRING

We came across this yard a couple days ago and thought you'd enjoy seeing the poppies.

Here's a closer look.

IOWA/ARIZONA POTLUCK

The Iowa people in our park get together twice a year-a potluck while we're here, and a get together in the summer in Iowa. Don and I were in charge of the three day event in Dubuque last September , and the potluck here last Sunday. It went pretty smooth except for one small problem. I was making IA and AZ flags for the tables, and Don proceded to tell me that I was putting the AZ flags upside down on the sticks-so like a good wife, I changed them. Two days later, we were driving down the street, and a firetruck with a flag on it, passed us. I wish you could have seen the sheepish look on Mulerts face! That night he played poker and I turned the flags the other direction. I hate to admit it was worth the extra work, to see that look!

We had around 60 people and lots of gooooooood food!

Thanks to Emmy and Paul Banwart for volunteering to take over and have the summer gathering at Storm Lake. More fun ahead!

GREEN IS A BEAUTIFUL COLOR

We took a day trip to the mountains the other day, and the rain has made an improvement in the coming of spring. It's getting green!!!

Of course, there's always a little "white".

These pictures were taken last week, and it's even greener now. The brittle bushes are starting to bloom with yellow flowers all over the desert. The tulips are in bloom at the Court House, but I never seem to have my camera with me at the right time, so you could see them. It won't be long and you'll get to see them too!

NORTHEAST IOWA BREAKFAST

We took an early morning trip up to Mesa with Browns to go to the northeast Iowa breakfast. We got to visit with Judy Ehler, who worked with Don in the office, while she was down here for a week. She is the one with the pink pad.
A few more of the Iowans.
