ISLAMORADA FISH HOUSE

Since we know from Branson, that Bass Pro Shops have excellent restaurants, we stopped for dinner at the one in our neighborhood. It looks out over a pond and a natural waterfall. The food was delicious and we split their "world famous" apple cobbler.

As you can see ladies, this is a place the guys don't mind taking you!

CITY MARKET

Yesterday, we squeezed in a little time, to go to one of our favorite places, the city market, for some fresh fruits and veggies, and homemade bread. The flowers were beautiful-annuals, perrenials and even orchids.

The buildings are in a square with three open air buildings in the middle plus many tents.

MIDWEST GENEALOGY CENTER

The rest of our time in Kansas City was spent doing research at the Midwest Genealogy Library.

We were greeted with a nice sign and given very friendly help from the staff.

They also have a new building which is user friendly and comfortable.

We're lucky to have three members of our group that are national speakers and have published articles, that are very willing to help the "newbies" and some of us "old dummies". Barbara Neuhring is one of them, who even did some German translation for us.

The library let us use their classroom in between their free classes, so our group teachers could hold their own. Peter and Connie Bradish gave us several opportunities to increase our knowledge. Here's Connie.

The week wasn't all work and no play. We had a potluck, a catered dinner, and went to a restaurant one evening, along with socials every evening. We're scheduled to have a "hitching up" breakfast this morning, but it's raining a bit, and some of the 21 rigs have left already. It was a fun group and well organized by Jeanette and Kelly. Safe travels to all!

FRED HARVEY DINER

While we were in Union Station, we had lunch at Fred Harvey's Diner. It was a cool place and delicious!

It had marble walls and lots of mouldings and old pictures-and even an old jukebox.

Our waitress is in the picture-she was a real character!

UNION STATION

While we were at the Archives, we went next door to Union Station' another of the beautifully restored stations across the nation.

Inside they have a neat train layout.

Part of the restored ceiling.

A piano bar.

Old trains outside.

NATIONAL ARCHIVES-KANSAS CITY BRANCH

As you know, we're in Blue Springs, MO, a suburb of Kansas City for a week at the Genie rally, spending our time on family history. On Tuesday, we went to the new National Archives building, which just opened two weeks ago. We didn't expect to find anything about our relatives, but were surprised to get some excellent help and tips on where to find our documents. They also gave us a very nice presentation. This is just the entrance-the building is huge. It's just a small part of what they have-the rest is kept in other buildings and caves.

ST. MARGARET OF SCOTLAND

Last Sunday, we attended a neighborhood church-another interesting experience. It was more like sitting in a living room.

The ceiling was more like a theater.

It did have good music and an interesting black priest, who made it seem like we were back in the deep south-and no kneelers.
