FAVORITE PELLA PLACES

We had a sandwich at Smokey Row.

Then on to Ulrichs Meats.

Our absolute favorite is Jaarsma's Bakery.

A TRIP TO PELLA

On Saturday, we took a ride over to one of our favorite Iowa towns-Pella, home of the Dutch. It's a week or two after Tulip Time, so the tulips are about done, but some were still pretty.

There were many signs around, but this one seemed serious.

WINTERSET, IOWA

Although we've been to Winterset many times, we took a little drive downtown to see the tourist spots. The town square has a courthouse in the middle with stores around it. Here's part of it.

Two of their famous "townies" are Fons and Porter who have their own quilting shop, magazine and TV show. Liz Porter's dad used to go to coffee where Don went in Decorah, because she's from there.

Their most famous citizen became a cowboy. He has a street named after him.

Here's his birthplace.

The well known book and movie "The Bridges of Madison County", was written about this county. Since it's a rainy day we went to the closest covered bridge in the park. They're all similar so this will give you an idea what they look like.

It's a neat little town!

COMPUTER SEMINAR

We arrived in Winterset on Sunday in plenty of time for the sandwich/salad potluck and first get together of this years computer seminar students. We've just spent the last four days exercising our grey matter, becoming more proficient in computer skills. Now we need to retain what we've learned. Sandy and Gene Teggatz were wonderful as usual and very, very patient. We had a good time! Here's Sandy!

Show and tell.

Our celebration dinner downtown.

It was a good seminar with excellent teachers, nice people, and lots of fun.

SPORTS IN OMAHA

We just spent some time in Omaha at the grandchildrens ballgames. There seemed to be some action photos-although I missed getting the LaCrosse fight on film. I knew enough not to take pictures of the boys in the penalty box-that wouldn't be cool! Here's Joe pitching until he ran out of steam.

Dan is waiting for trouble-#9.

The coach in action-better known as our son Russ.

Jenna on the volleyball court.

Joe's doing warmup exercises with Jenna and her team.

MORE REUNION

We were lucky to find Julie in Albuquerque last year and spent a day with her. She was one of the gals who hadn't seen anyone since graduation. She was one of my bridesmaids-Sharon was another, but we lost her years ago. We missed her and Pat, who recently passed away. Julie is in black.

We were all thrilled to have Sr. Carol, formally Sr. Wendolyn, with us. She was a joy as a member of our class, and she hasn't changed!

There was no shortage of funny stories or laughter.

Our award winner is the one with the corsage.
The next day, twelve of us got together for lunch, and it was still fun.
It was amazing to see how we had grown older and maybe wiser, but basically we were the same. May good health and happiness continue for all of us!

45TH NURSES REUNION

Last weekend I was lucky to be able to attend my nurses reunion in Dubuque. We trained at Mercy School of Nursing for 3 years, all year long, and bonded for life! There were 21 out of the remaining 34 gathered together in a mutual admiration society-with fantastic memories, shared friendship, and stories of our accomplishments. There were 170 at the banquet, and we were proud to have Mary Edith win the award for nurse of the year. It was probably a surprise that someone from our so called "wild class"could be so honored. Sister Mary Rose would never believe how successful we've been! Thanks to Miss Tully we turned out to be really good nurses! We seemed to have stayed strong through many tradgedies, but have also had many blessings! Hopefully, we'll all be together for our 50th!

A group of us were there early and we went up to the Archive room at the hospital.
Here we're looking at newspaper clippings of our class.
Mary Jo, Marilyn and Betty looking at our graduation pictures.
A long time has passed since we wore the cape, hat and white gloves!
