MORE LIGHTS

Our next evening adventure was close to our RV park and was two miles of lights. It didn't seem like a lot of lights in one place, but they went on forever. Here's a few.

PIONEER PLAZA

Before we left downtown Dallas, we drove around Pioneer Plaza where there's a pretty park with pioneer sculptures.

CHRISTMAS TREE CONTEST

Neiman Marcus also has a Christmas tree contest and then displays the (?) winners in their windows. Here are a few beginning with the winnner-a tree full of waste facts, even when we recycle-you can read them in the bubbles.

This one is made out of pencils.

How about crutches, canes and wheelchair parts?

Rocks?

Dolls.

These are interesting, but I'll take an old fashioned tree any day!

NEIMAN MARCUS CAFE

We went next door for lunch at the Neiman Marcus Cafe-we figured we couldn't live like "the other half", but maybe we could afford one of their sandwiches. They do eat well as you can see-I had a French dip and Don had a reuben.

NEIMAN MARCUS

We walked over to the first Neiman Marcus store, because our friends, Jake and Nancy, had said the decorations were going to be pretty. They were right.

Here's an example of an outside window with a dress made out of greeting cards.

KENNEDY MEMORIAL

Next, we walked down the block behind the old courthouse to see the memorial built by the town for JFK. It's in the shape of a roofless room or tomb which enables the release of Kennedy's spirit.

6TH FLOOR MUSEUM

We drove on to Dallas and had to go to see where JFK was shot, in downtown Dallas. No photography was allowed inside the building. History is recorded in a very good way and now we understand why this part of JFK's life wasn't included in his presidential library in Boston-it takes a whole museum to cover all the story. Besides the actual shooting, it shows the family's and countries grief, and the investigation of the killer from many angles and commissions. This is the building where the shooter was on the sixth floor.

This is the window. It's a creepy feeling looking out to see where he aimed.

There are two x's on the street so you can see where the shots hit him. It was really weird that when I was taking the picture of one of the x's, an ambulance went by. The x is in the middle of the street, right across from the front passenger tire.
